Best Riding Mowers For Women

Image result for Toro 20360 e-cycler lawnmower review

We consistently have people on our website looking for the best riding mowers for women. Not that a woman couldn’t handle even the toughest mower, they can, just ask my wife… and she’s tiny. But, typically, a woman’s frame is smaller than a man’s and they tend to want something a little more comfortable and fun (again, just ask my wife. And my mother.) However, they don’t want to trade comfort for anything less than an exceptional cut.

Below are what we’ve found to be some of the best riding mowers for women. They all offer a great smaller size. The best riding mowers for women below are not listed in preference, they are listed by horsepower and then deck size. We have also indicated the highest consumer rated tractor as well as thefilix.com choice.

Weedeater One 190cc (about 6.5 HP) and a 26 Inch Deck

This was exactly what I was looking for: right size, fairly quiet, simple maintenance, easy to store, and easy to load into my pickup. My wife loves it too and uses it weekly on her mothers yard. We’ve cut three average sized yards weekly for the last 10 weeks with only one problem. The steering wheel adaptor, PN 186737, has started slipping, making turns difficult/impossible. This part is only $3.50. It is a poorly designed part, a composite material much too soft to last long. I’ve ‘home engineered’ a fix, but expect Weed Eater to upgrade/re-design this part. So, other than this problem I would rate this mower a “5?. Also, knobby off road style rear tires would prevent most slipping uphill in slick grass.

Poulan XT PXT12530 Riding Mower -12.5 HP and a 30 Inch Deck (3-Speed) – Same mower as the 6-speed below but with 3 speeds.

This mower is perfect for small and medium size lawns. There is very little assembly and the mower came with the oil already in the crankcase. After the first battery charge ( 1 hour ), I was cutting my lawn. I was split between buying the 3 speed or the 6 speed. Unless you have very long cutting rows I would go with the 3 speed. It moves fast enough for me. Now I don’t know why I put off buying a riding mower.

Poulan XT PXT12530 Riding Mower – 12.5 HP and a 30-Inch Deck (6-Speed) – Same mower as the 3-speed above but with 6-speeds.

This mower I reviewed last year continues to perform well. I have serviced it and kept it clean. I have had no problems with the mower at all. In winter I drained the gas and it was stored in my out building away from the weather. When I began the mowing season this Spring it started right up. I have not had to replace the blade so I do not know if one is available at The Filix or elsewhere.

Ariens 915131 Zero Turn Riding Mower. 13.5 HP  and a 34-Inch Deck

Mowing Miracle. This 34 inch zero turn mower is just the machine for what I consider a normal size yard with the normal amount of obstacles to mow around. This machine is so maneuverable! Easy and safe to operate! I have enjoyed using it so much that I have found myself anticipating my next mowing! Besides being so easy and fun to operate, my lawn looks the best it has ever looked in the fourteen years we have owned this property. This has been the best mowing equipment that I have ever owned, including riders that I have used on a small acreage. I love this mowing miracle!

Snapper L130 Riding Lawn Mower. Model 7800545. 23 HP and a 42 Inch Deck

I went to Sears to find a replacement for my 19 year old, 12.5hp, 42″ Craftsman lawn tractor and came home with the Snapper LT130. What a difference! I have no complaints about my old tractor – it has performed exceptionally well, but the Snapper seemed to be reading my mind as I went around the yard. Very smooth, responsive, and no lack of power. I was apprehensive at first about the 4 wheel steering, but would not go back to 2 wheel. The tractor seems to be well made with heavy duty parts where it counts. I look forward to many years mowing with the LT130.

If you want an effective water heater that will not take up much room then this particular model fits the bill.

This particular model was released back in 2003 and was then the smallest water heater designed in this range. It may be small, but it is extremely powerful. The unit itself has gas inputs of around 140,000 BTU every hour. The product is capable of meeting the requirements of small homes that need hot water regularly throughout the day. It is best for homes with about 2 bathrooms to heat. The water heater can be installed in both residential and commercial properties alike. The heater unit is extremely compact meaning it can be installed and mounted pretty much anywhere you like around the home.

The unit comes complete with four temperatures that are pre-set for ease of use. These temperatures are 113 degrees F, 122 degrees F, 140 degrees F and 182 degrees F. In order to get any other temperatures besides these you will need the temperature controller. In the past, water heaters used to be bulky and difficult to install and move. However, with this model things have changed somewhat. Due to the size of the unit it is now possible to set up anywhere in the home without getting in the way. Additionally, it has not tank so saves on space as well. If you decide you do not want it in a certain position it is flexible enough to move around from room to room depending on your specific needs.

If you add to that the easy installation and great features then you are getting a product that is fantastic value for money. Recommended!

GreenWorks 25022 Review

Posted by [email protected] on December 11, 2016 at 9:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Features:

  • The GreenWorks 25022 12 is a corded electric mower. It is manufactured in China which may appear to be a complaint from some users. It is a powerful device which has a 12 Amp motor for getting mowing done easily and at the cost of least effort.
  • It has a robust steel of 20″ cutting deck that offers highest performance and long durability. It has a single lever 7-position height adjustment that offers the user a range of cutting height from 1.5″ to 3.75″ for the perfect cut on all types of grass.
  • This mower has 10″ rear wheels and 7″ front wheels. These wider wheels make it easy to maneuver around uneven terrain and around the flower beds.
  • It has a 3-in-1 feature. It provides multiple options for grass clippings from rear bagging, side discharge and mulching capabilities for versatile needs.

GreenWorks 25022 Review:

This electric mower is super easy to use & it is quite powerful. So far it has held up to whatever I ran it over including roots, sticks & leaves. The best thing about this machine is that, I now don’t have to think about getting gas for the mower, or changing the lubricant oil. This also saves quite some money at the end of the year.

The mower looks good and the metal sheeting of its body appears to be as thick as my friend’s gas mower.

Its build quality is top notch; the frame is a unique design that allows height adjustments with only one lever. So I am really very much impressed with the build quality.

The mulch block works great and also the bagger. By the way, do not try to use the bag on wet grass. I’ve had a bad experience, so I am suggesting you not to repeat after me.  Adjusting the cutting height is easy. This mower is not that loud, very quiet. I would scale it to about a 70db or a loud hair dryer.

The clippings are very fine.  The bagger is a little bit small that makes thing a little bit disturbing to get the clippings out of the bag.

Its Pros:

  • Quite light and so easy to maneuver
  • One-step height adjustment
  • Large rear tyres make it easier to maneuver and work faster
  • Includes side discharge bag

Its Cons:

  • Not for any big sized lawn
  • The cord can give you some headache, and you need some time to be used to managing the crd properly

Conclusion:

In short, this electric mower is quiet, simple to use, easy to be stored, no gasoline to be concerned about and comes with a very strong motor. Also, there is only a little to maintain, so no worries with that.

Product Summary

Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope is short focal length telescope that has a 650mm primary mirror which translates to brighter and clearer image. The primary parabolic mirror that it uses is the same as those in much larger telescopes but costs cheaper.

Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope

Product Features

Short focal length

First of all, remember that in telescopes; design is everything. The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope has a 24 inch long tube which is relatively shorter than the standard 33 inch in most telescopes in the market today. This does not mean that the quality of the image it will produce will be of low quality. But the shorter tube means it is easier to transport and carry to other locations. The primary mirror of this telescope measures 650mm (f/5). The focal length of a telescope determines the quality and the field view of the image it produces. The longer the focal length, the wider the field view and also the more vivid the images it will produce.

Powerful reflectors

The parabolic mirror that Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope uses is the same as the larger, more powerful reflectors use but it is way more inexpensive compared to those high-costing telescopes. Although it is considered as a short length telescope, the parabolic mirror inside it makes it at par with those powerful telescopes when it comes to delivering detailed and sharp images.

Free online support

Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope has excellent online support, which means that you can learn all there is to know about this telescope in their website. They also have articles, charts, and tutorials for beginners, and it is for free. It is definitely a plus because only a handful of telescope manufacturers offer free online support for their customers.

Lightweight

The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope has a unique design that is shorter compared to other telescopes. This means that its weight is also not an issue for this telescope. You can easily transport it to other locations if you want.

Specs

  • 24-inch tube makes it more portable
  • Powerful 650mm (f/5) primary parabolic mirror
  • Aluminum tripod that is adjustable
  • EQ-2 mount with dual settings
  • 6×30 achromatic finder scope

Pros

  • Portable because of its short focal length design
  • More detailed image because of its powerful primary mirror
  • Affordable
  • 1 year limited warranty
  • Free support from their website
  • Not a back breaker because of its lightweight

Cons

  • Requires some above average level of understanding in mechanical assembly

Customers’ Review Summary

Many customer reviews about the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope say that it is worth every penny. It is very important especially in these times to have value for your money. A review about this telescope also says that it can easily and clearly show Saturn even if the location is just across a supermarket and next to a street lamp. This clearly shows that this telescope is one of a kind. So, if you want a quality telescope that will not burn your pocket, then this one is for you.

Top Five Enemies of Hot Tub Covers

Posted by [email protected] on December 10, 2016 at 4:45 PM Comments comments (0)

A hot tub cover that’s made well and properly cared for should be able to last many years outdoors. Longer if maintained well.

These days all hot tub covers have a good warranty covering construction faults, material defects. It’s fairly standard in the industry, but here is a little secret – they almost never will need to fulfill that warranty. – What usually shortens the life of your hot tub covers is from how the spa owners abuse them!

Despite having a strong warranty, no body wants to have to make a warranty claim, and ship a hot tub cover back for repair or replacement. Keeping that in mind we have come up with this list of warranty-busting hot tub cover care tips.

Avoid these Five Enemies of Hot Tub Covers, and your cover will endure well beyond any warranty.

UV rays from the sun gives life through photosynthesis, but they also degrade most surfaces, even with UV inhibitors included in marine grade vinyl utilized on traditional spa covers. Especially in sun-drenched areas of the nation, and especially when the spa has minimal shade to shield it from the sun, UV rays can damage your spa cover. An effort to keep your hot tub cover protected against UV rays, we suggest acquiring a hot tub cover that employs Sunbrella fabric as opposed to vinyl. Sunbrella is the only outdoor fabric rated by years in preference to ALL vinyl materials that are rated by HOURS. Even the costliest vinyl will eventually crack and disintegrate in the long run. Sunbrella won’t even FADE. We have seen Sunbrella fabric still looking new after twelve years of unprotected exposure. No vinyl will ever come close warranty or otherwise.

It seems that winter wind is always an issue that could mean higher wind speeds and frequent storms. A strong wind can flip up a foam filled spa cover while a really strong wind can send it flying to parts unknown. This usually producing major damage to hot tub covers, most often cracking the foam cores. To prevent this from happening altogether, purchase the only hot tub cover that does not use foam. Rigid foam panels, even ones that are saturated with water will still fly very well with sufficient wind. The only types of hot tub covers, which can withstand hurricane force winds, are air filled covers. They have the ideal dome shape and no rigid surface that might allow the wind to lift. In 30 years and an abundance of covers in use all over “Tornado Alley” not ONE air filled cover has ever blown off a spa. Again, no traditional foam cover will ever hope to offer the same claim. Straps or no straps. Warranty or not. Possibly a larger danger when compared to wind itself, could possibly be large tree branches that are thrown down onto a spa. Consequently, the air filled hot tub cover delivers the advantage. Since it can “give” when struck, the air filled cover avoids damage even when a rigid cover will be crushed or skewered.

Water

Rain and snow are obvious enemies, but add to it automatic sprinklers. If your cover is in good shape, and secured, your spa cover should shed water. If water begins to puddle on your cover, you will certainly soon be looking at a new spa cover, unless it’s an air filled cover. With an air filled hot tub cover, water pooling on the surface of the cover is simply due to the cover fasteners not being used, or the spa water level being below normal. Normally, refilling the spa or just simply securing the fasteners will restore the cover to perfect working condition. The same thing can’t be said of a foam filled cover. And despite any warranty, the sagging foam cover means you will be acquiring a replacement. Any type of roof above the spa, a patio, gazebo or pergola will help to keep your spa cover shielded from sun and rain. Unfortunately it won’t stop the foam cover from getting heavy.

Unfortunately, water from above would not be the major liquid enemy of your spa cover – the moisture beneath your spa cover, your spa water, also can damage the foam, as well as grow mold and mildew. No matter if the spa cover foam cores are vacuum wrapped and heat-sealed, to keep out moisture, they all will still eventually soak up moisture. Your spa cover dealer may suggest you remove the cover completely, and allow it to air out. Only they don’t mention that drying it out completely is going to take months! Dealers realize that if your spa cover becomes waterlogged, to the point where it becomes too difficult to move, (and it always will) you are going to have to buy a new spa cover! They are looking forward to it. It’s possible to prevent it though providing you don’t replace the old saturated cover with another one exactly like it. Think Air instead of foam.

The Party Animal

Animals

Bears have been known to be attracted to a scent present in some spa cover foam panels, (another good reason not to use it) however this is typically a rare occurrence. Most animals will not chew or scratch a spa cover. Indeed, most damage occurs with large dogs. The heat of the spa under the cover is what seems to attract dogs and cats. A small pet probably won’t do any damage, except a 50 lb. dog could weaken and damage your foam panels and reinforcement channel. Again, not with the use of an air filled cover. You can’t really blame your beloved pet for thinking the spa cover might be a really good location to lie. If it’s a rigid foam cover, it looks identical to the deck to the dog. In any case with an air filled cover, not even the dog is mistaking it for just another part of one’s deck. Also, most dogs don’t like stepping onto things that “gives” and thus they are inclined to leave it alone.

Party animals are far more likely to cause damage spa covers. Kids especially, and doubtless some adults; think a rigid spa resembles more deck, and ideal for walking on. Keep all “animals” off your spa cover – a great deal of weight is an enemy that attacks suddenly, destroying a spa cover instantaneously. The advantage for the air filled cover may be that it’s not flat that cannot be mistaken for more deck. Even so, no warranty on any cover can cover damage caused by someone jumping on your spa cover. Best to limit the spa privileges of animals that are big enough or dumb enough to damage your cover.

Chemicals Can Be Hazardous

Chemicals

Chemicals under the spa cover, from the spa water, can be harsh to spa cover materials. Low pH or high sanitizer level, or shocking the spa and then closing the cover – all will definitely lead to a slow deterioration of seams and vinyl. This is applicable regardless of what type of cover you have. Something to take into consideration, in the event you are damaging your hot tub cover with chemicals, you’re doing exactly the same thing to your skin, hair, your spa impellors and jets. And since no cover manufacturer can control your chemicals, the damage it causes is on you, in spite of any warranty.

At Best Hot Tub Covers, we only recommend one cover, the SpaCap. For more than thirty years they have been building hot tub covers that beat all other traditional foam filled covers, hands down. They insulate better, stay lightweight and typically last years longer.

Lithium Ion Slide Vac & Drill Combo Kit Reviews

Posted by [email protected] on December 10, 2016 at 4:10 PM Comments comments (0)

This handheld vacuum has surprisingly strong suction for such a lightweight package. This has a lot to do with the Li-Ion battery pack. It is small and light compared to lead acid and NiMH chemistries. It is also helps the vacuum’s balance, which might help make it feel lighter than it really is.

Compared to our other hand vacuum, the Black & Decker FHV1200 Flex Vac Cordless Ultra-Compact Vacuum Cleaner, this is a lighter and quicker vacuum for small cleaning jobs. The FHV1200 has a detachable hose and is better suited for larger jobs. This model may be faster to use for quick grab and go jobs. Emptying the dust bin is also fast and easy with this vacuum. It just requires releasing the collector and then removing the filter. I used this vacuum to clean up some grout dust and was surprised to see how much this collected.

One trait with this vacuum, and it is also true for other handheld vacuums, is a high pitched whine. It is quite distracting and loud in enclosed areas. Other handheld vacuums also generally have this whine, but it seems more pronounced with this model. My main negative about this vacuum is the exhaust is fixed at the bottom. It tends to blow everything around. I prefer the detachable FHV1200 vacuum so I can point the exhaust away from the collection site.

I’ve uploaded a video comparing the two vacuums using a sound pressure level meter in a closed bathroom environment. As suspected, the BDH2000SL is much louder than the FHV1200: close to 10dB difference (~124dB for BDH vs ~114dB for the FHV at close range) when the exhaust is pointed towards the meter. That is significant. The audio provides a qualitative sample of the sound. Note: the video recorder microphone apparently saturated when using the BDH so the sound was clipped and distorted.

Information on TENS Machines

If you have experienced muscle pain from exercise, or had a pulled or strained muscle, then you have experienced the kind of pain that a TENS unit is used for. The Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a battery operated electronic machine that, when attached to your body, helps your body control pain.

TENS and Pain Control

A TENS unit works with your nerves and brain to help control muscular and joint pain. This happens when sticky patches attached to the TENS unit are placed on body where the pain is focused. These sticky patches stick to the skin and the electrodes within the pads transport an electrical pulse to nerve fibers located just below the skin, which in turn blocks the pain. When the muscles contract and relax with the electrical pulses in the TENS unit, the brain releases endorphins. Endorphins are natural chemicals released in the body that work with sedative receptors to relieve pain.

With the use of TENS, pain management without the use of prescription medication is becoming the method of choice for many doctors. Successful pain therapy in a physician's office could lead patients to the use of their own TENS unit for their home. A major convenience of the therapy is that it is mobile and can go with you to any destination. Additionally, there are few side effects compared to those experienced with medications. Some users report skin irritation at the patch sight that can be reduced by using a different kind of sticky electrode.

TENS Can Help Many Afflictions

Patients of TENS have found relief from neck and back pain, as well as; headaches, muscle strains, arthritis, TMJ disorder, sciatica, and others.

TENS should be Doctor Recommended

A person should not purchase or use a TENS unit without a doctor's recommendation. People with a pace maker, as well as women who are pregnant, should be under the care of a physician before using a TENS machine.

How to Purchase a TENS machine

A doctor or medical professional can help you obtain a TENS unit with a prescription. Some insurance companies will cover them on a plan, or you can purchase them outright. Your insurance or medical provider should be able to answer any financial questions you may have. Additionally, a cost effective option is to rent a unit until it is no longer needed.

tens-machine.jpgSome patients have permanent medical issues and will benefit from the use of a TENS unit the rest of their lives. Other patients with temporary ailments might find that renting a unit is the most economical way to go since they can cost from $200 to $800. To make sure you are making a sound decision, you can also rent a unit for a month to see if owning a machine is right for you.

A TENS unit has many settings and can manipulate the body with soft or stronger electrical pulses. These setting should not be changed once a doctor has determined which setting is the most effective for your medical needs. Furthermore, keep in mind that a TENS will not cure a medical condition or the pain experienced from a medical issue; TENS is only used as a treatment for pain.

A Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation has proven to be an effective method for treating pain for many patients. It is an excellent alternative therapy for consumers who do not want to rely on prescription medication.
